Local communities come together for Australia Day celebrations

28 January 2020

Local families came together under perfect weather conditions to enjoy Australia Day celebrations hosted by Dennis Family Corporation at Manor Lakes and Modeina estates over the Australia Day long weekend.

Both events were hugely successful, drawing large crowds and providing loads of entertainment for local families.

The annual Manor Lakes event was once again held beside the main lake, but his year moved to a later timeslot of 4pm to 8pm and carried a “sustainability” theme.

“Our Australia Day celebration on Sunday, 26th January was amazing, with around 2,500 to 3,000 people in attendance,” Manor Lakes Marketing Executive, Kelly Cowley reported.

“The sustainability theme was well received. We gave away hundreds of reusable Manor Lakes branded water bottles and native plants at the event,” she noted.

Highlights amongst a packed program of entertainment included a world dance spectacular, sustainable Olympics running activities, messy science experiments, carnival rides, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, roving performers and an incredible Dinomania show at the conclusion of the event.

Food was able to be purchased from vendors and gold coin donations were also collected for the Werribee River Association.

Modeina estate held its first ever Australia Day event, utilising the parklands space provided within the estate at Montmarte Boulevard Reserve which proved to be an ideal location.

The free event on Saturday, 25th January provided a wide variety of family entertainment from 3 pm until 5.30 pm including pony rides, petting zoo, large Jurassic Park inspired jumping inflatable, face painting, roaming performer and a Bethany Fisher Disney Show on the main stage. Complimentary ice creams, popcorn and fairy floss also proved very popular.

“We had more than 350 local people in attendance, including Melton City Council’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor Steve Abboushi who was very impressed by the event and enjoyed the afternoon as everyone did,” explained Modeina Marketing Executive, Rod Fuentes.

“It is important that we continue to create memorable experiences for our community at Modeina that help bring everyone together,” he added.

Both Australia Day celebrations at Manor Lakes and Modeina have received very positive post-event feedback on social media.
