About the Media and Content Manager position

Reporting to the Internal Communications Manager, this position is responsible for the development of all external communication for the organisation and coordinating DFC’s issues and crisis process. The position is accountable across all divisions for corporate, land, housing and retail & commercial developments communications..

Operating in a dynamic environment, the incumbent will take a lead for the response and administration of issues and crisis management whilst focusing on maximising opportunities to promote the organisation’s positive activities to external audiences through various media platforms. The successful incumbent will also be first point of contact for media enquiries within the organisation, liaising closely with key external agencies, senior internal management and staff at all levels.

External communications include all general media relations, preparing media releases, as well as maintaining the corporate website and contributing to the provision of editorial content for external publications, newsletters and web blogs across the organisation.


•    Overall coordination and administration of issues and crisis management process throughout the organisation;
•    First point of contact and responder for all media queries pertaining to DFC across all business divisions;
•    Preparation of newsworthy DFC stories and editorial content for featured property industry publications on key issues with target audiences;
•    Researching and preparing news realeases and press statements for all DFC divisions;
•    Providing communications support for all areas of DFC including the preparation of content for Marketing newsletters and web blogs across the    organisation;
•    Revision, development, identification of opportunities for improvement of all external organisational communication;
•    Development and implementation of external communications plan;
•    Review design, content and layout of corporate profile and corporate website with DFC management; and
•    Developing and maintaining strong professional relationships internally and externally.

Skills, attributes and qualifications

•    Minimum five years’ experience in PR and communications;
•    Previous experience in issues and crisis management;
•    Exceptional writing and editing ability coupled with outstanding communications skills;
•    Demonstrated good external working relationships relationships with media, PR and other agencies;
•    Experience working to tight deadlines, juggling conflicting priorities and working under pressure;
•    A solid understanding of social media platforms and website management;
•    Proven creative lateral thinker;
•    Industry experience is desirable; and
•    Communications tertiary qualification is preferable.

The incumbent will be a highly efficient communicator with excellent decision-making skills and the ability to prioritise, organise, problem solve and deal effectively with people at all levels in a manner that reflects the values of the organisation.
