SchoolsManor Lakes is proud to be a leading educational destination with two new Wyndham schools to service local primary and high school students - Manor Lakes College and Our Lady of the Southern Cross Catholic Primary School.Manor Lakes College is a world-class school specifically designed to offer students the very latest in educational facilities. Manor Lakes College currently offers classes in prep to year 9. Over the coming years, extra year levels will be progressively added - with year 10 to commence in 2012, year 11 the following year etc. until the school caters for students up to year 12. Manor Lakes College will ultimately accommodate more than 2,500 students, making it one of the largest schools in Victoria. The school features modern facilities, including a Performing Arts building and Gymnasium. Another highlight of Manor Lakes College is the one-to-one laptop programme for all year 7 students, with the school's pupils enjoying direct access to online learning resources. For more information about Manor Lakes College contact the Principal, Jason Smallwood, 9741 4202, email: smallwood.jason.l@edumail.vic.gov.au or visit the school on Minindee Drive. Our Lady of the Southern Cross Catholic Primary School offers students a unique educational experience with traditional classrooms replaced by a light, open space for up to 150 prep to year 6 students. The space is ventilated using a solar powered system that extracts warm air from the building and replaces it with cooler air in the evenings and at the same time providing ample natural light. A performing arts space has been opened and children will learn horticulture in the school's vegetable patches. Students of Our Lady of the Southern Cross will also learn art, Mandarin as the Language Other Than English (LOTE) and religious instruction. Our Lady of the Southern Cross is under the control of the St Andrews Parish together with three other local primary schools; Corpus Christi, Bethany and St Andrews. Students from all four of these local Catholic primary schools will be eligible to gain direct entry to the MacKillop Secondary College in Werribee. A terrific feature of both schools is that they work together on many aspects of school life. The facilities and resources of the schools are being shared, including the professional learning of staff. In addition, before and after school care is housed at Manor Lakes College for both schools. This service is run by Quantin Binnah Community Centre. Above all, both schools are working together to ensure that education in the Wyndham Vale area is of most importance.
